About Me

Hi, I’m Tara.

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor who believes therapy should feel human, steady, and safe — a space that moves at your pace and never feels like a performance or a checklist.

My work is rooted in the belief that meaningful change happens in relationship, and that healing doesn’t come from “fixing” yourself — but from understanding yourself with compassion and clarity.

I work primarily with adolescents, young adults, and families who feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck in old patterns, or quietly disconnected from themselves or others. Many of my clients are high-functioning on the outside but feel anxious, uncertain, or worn down on the inside. Together, we slow things down, make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface, and build skills that support long-term emotional steadiness.

My approach draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Couples methods, and attachment-informed care. I care deeply about creating a space where you feel heard, respected, and never judged. Therapy with me is not about pressure or perfection — it’s about helping you feel more like yourself again.

I hold a master’s degree in Counseling from Southern Methodist University and a bachelor’s degree from Texas Woman’s University. I am licensed in Texas as an LPC and hold national certification as an NCC. Before becoming a counselor, I spent 15 years teaching and coaching high school students and five years as a mental health counselor working with students, experiences that deeply shaped how I understand young people and the pressures they carry.

Outside of the therapy room, I’m a mom to two kids who keep me grounded and laughing, the proud owner of a very loyal Doberman, and a sweet cat who keeps his distance just enough to remind us all about healthy boundaries. I value calm mornings, meaningful conversations, and creating a life that feels steady rather than chaotic — values that deeply influence the way I practice.

If you’re looking for a therapist who is present, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in your well-being, I’d be honored to work with you.
